solartonic is one of seven companies collaborating on the Accessible Streets Studio in partnership with NewLab, a multi-disciplinary technology center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Michigan Central, Ford Motor Co.’s new mobility innovation district in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
The Accessible Streets Studio is focused on addressing immediate transportation challenges in the neighborhoods around Michigan Central Station and helping to deliver high-impact services and products that address community needs.
Our pilot project was installed in the Dequindre Cut Greenway in collaboratiaon with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, and demonstrated how solartonic’s solahub, solar smart pole platform, delivers a range of community-focused benefits including:
- Enhanced safety with illuminated pathways with motion sensor light activation.
- Free Wi-Fi service portal for Greenway users
- Enhanced security and data analytics with smart CCTV camera
- Updated city notices and messages via digital media in real time
- Local transit maps and timetables with up to date bus arrival times.
- Wayfinding and local community events information
- Integrated bench seating, for bus stops and general public relaxation
- Animated color LED accent lights, remotely programmed for events
- Strobe lighting and audio notifications signaling emergency events in real time
- Interactive video intercom to aid visitor wayfinding and emergency calls
- Insights on mobility patterns in the Greenway
- Insights on incidents to inform and enhance area safety
solartonic’s vision is to empower smart communites with our solar powered smart pole technology for parks and greenways to enhance public mobility and safety. The Dequindre Cut installation demonstrates how our smart poles, that run on solar-power and wireless network communications, can securely provide community connectivity for enhanced public safety, via remote controls, wireless communications, smart lighting and digital media through the cloud that includes AI insights for mobility management.
